England Training Session

In the week building up to an international fixture, training sessions and press conferences are always arranged for the media. In the past, Arsenal’s London Colney training ground was the place to be, but now all the squads engaged in international duty meet up at St. George’s Park in Burton-upon-Trent, where they train together and bond as a group before heading off to their respective matchday venues.

This was the first time the senior squad had trained at Burton since the facility’s autumn launch. None of us knew what to expect, in terms of working facilities, how far away we’d be from the session etc…but it was an incredibly pleasing experience. We were given at least, if not more than, the 15 mins we’re usually allowed, and could roam up and down an entire sideline to get the shots we wanted and needed. We were then treated to tea, coffee, some hot food and free, fast WiFi…all of which made for a thoroughly civilised morning…
