Utd vs. City (Pt II)

The return fixture between the two Manchester clubs came at a strange point in the season. With the title already seemingly won by United, the atmosphere beforehand was slightly subdued…although there was still an immense degree of animosity in the air, the visiting fans were clearly aware that pride was more at stake than any chance of upsetting their rivals’ momentum and perhaps allowing for one last challenge at the league.

Despite this, the noise inside the stadium come kick-off totally dispelled any suggestions that this was just another game on the season’s fixture list. As the teams emerged from the tunnel, a roar erupted from all four sides of the ground and the match came to life…

The final score was a 1-2 victory for City, as they reduced United’s lead in the Premier League to 12 points. Most people believe United will still go on to win their record 20th title, it did go some way to making the next few games slightly less of an anti-climax.
