2012-2013: The Final Day

I spent the final day of the 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season at The Hawthorns, home of West Bromwich Albion, the venue for Sir Alex Ferguson’s last ever game in charge of Manchester United. Programmes for the match were selling like you wouldn’t believe…fans were buying boxes of them at a time, with visions of healthy profits in the weeks to come.

There were two photos I’d decided I wanted to get from the day – one was the last goal scored under Fergie’s management, and the other was him stepping onto the team bus after the match for the last time. Fortunately, despite a slightly ill-judged first half that saw three Man Utd goals scored at the far end from where I’d been sitting, I came away satisfied having got the pictures I’d intended to get…
