Barclays PR Portraits

I received a call from a PR agency recently asking me to produce some portraits of a Barclays employee at the company’s Radbroke Hall premises near Knutsford in Cheshire. I was given a day’s notice, and not much information regarding the brief either, so I felt a little lost in terms of ideas for the shoot.

The next day, it transpired the article with which the images would be used was about the man’s interests outside of his 9-5 working hours…namely, football coaching. I decided to settle on a simple approach to the pictures – assuming the weather would be acceptable, one light off to the side, balanced with the sunlight, which I knew would be coming from a direction suitable to balance things off.

These pictures are rarely all that interesting, but they do give you something else to think about when so much time is spent working with available light (and, more often that not, poor quality light at that). My subject, Chris, was extremely accommodating, making it a successful morning…
