Aintree Grand National Meeting 2016

During the second weekend of April, I spent my time mostly photographing horses. The Grand National meeting at Aintree, in Liverpool, is the racing calendar’s most eagerly-anticipated event, culminating in the world’s oldest and most grueling steeplechase.

I covered a fair few miles over the three days; despite having to cart 3 cameras and lenses, along with a waist pack containing spare batteries, waterproofs, remote triggers and various other accessories, it remained a welcome change from sitting stationary for 90 minutes assuming the action was going to be ‘at the other end’…
